Pediatric Behavioral Health Solutions is a mental health practice specializing in the care of children and adolescents aged 6-18 years, providing personalized, evidence-based treatment for conditions such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral disorders. Our primary focus is on medication management. We provide comprehensive psychiatric services—including evaluations, diagnosis, and select forms of therapy—exclusively for clients receiving medication management through our practice. We also work closely with families to provide education, guidance and support, fostering a collaborative environment to help children build coping skills, develop resilience, and achieve emotional well-being.
In this role, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is an advanced practice nurse specializing in the mental health care of children and adolescents. PMHNPs are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of mental health disorders, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral disorders, and more. PMHNPs take a holistic approach to care, considering both the psychological and developmental needs of young patients.
PMHNPs can provide psychotherapy, prescribe medications, and collaborate with families, schools, and other healthcare providers to ensure a comprehensive, integrated treatment plan. Their goal is to promote mental and emotional well-being, help children build coping skills, and empower families to support their child’s mental health journey.
By addressing both mental and behavioral health issues in a compassionate and personalized manner, PMHNPs play a critical role in helping young people thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.
At Pediatric Behavioral Health Solutions, we are committed to providing accessible and high-quality mental health care for children and adolescents. We accept a variety of insurance plans to ensure that our services are affordable for families. Please contact our office to verify your coverage and discuss any questions you may have about insurance and payment options.
At this time we currently accept:
A new patient initial consultation is the first appointment that a patient has with our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). During this appointment, the PMHNP will gather information about the patient's mental health history, current symptoms, and any previous treatments they may have received. This information will help the provider develop an understanding of the patient's needs and create an individualized treatment plan.
The new patient initial consultation typically lasts around 60 minutes. During this time, the provider will ask questions about the patient's mental health history, family history, and current symptoms. They may also ask about the patient's social and academic functioning.
In addition to asking questions, we may administer various assessments to gather additional information about the patient's mental health. These assessments may include questionnaires, behavioral observations, and cognitive tests.
At the end of the consultation, the PMHNP will provide a preliminary diagnosis (if applicable) and discuss treatment options with the patient and their family. The treatment plan may include therapy, medication, or a combination of both. The provider will also answer any questions that the patient or their family may have and provide resources for additional support.
Please bring any relevant medical records, including previous psychiatric evaluations or treatment records, to the appointment. A parent or legal guardian must accompany all minors to their appointments.
Please note that there is no guarantee that medication will be prescribed during the new patient initial consultation. The decision to prescribe medication will be based on the providers assessment of the patient's needs and may require additional appointments to fully evaluate the patient's condition. The PMHNP will discuss all treatment options with the patient and their family and work collaboratively to develop a treatment plan that best fits the patient's individual needs.
It is also important to note that the new patient initial consultation does not constitute a patient-provider relationship. The consultation is an opportunity for the PMHNP to gather information and assess the patient's mental health needs. If the patient and their family decide to continue treatment with our office, a patient-provider relationship will be established, and the PMHNP will work with the patient and their family to develop and implement a treatment plan.
We understand that seeking mental health treatment can be a difficult decision, and we are committed to providing a supportive and compassionate environment for our patients and their families. If you have any questions about our policies or procedures, please do not hesitate to contact us.
To ensure a smooth and efficient visit, all new patients must complete their intake paperwork 24 hours prior to their first appointment. If the paperwork is not submitted on time, your appointment will unfortunately be canceled and will need to be rescheduled. This policy helps us prepare for your child's visit and ensures that we can provide the best possible care.
